A bold statement for the racing world: Toprak Razgatlioglu, the Superbike sensation, is making the leap to MotoGP, but with a twist.
During his MotoGP test in Aragon, Razgatlioglu impressed with his talent, but one key aspect stood out - his braking technique. Augusto Fernandez, Yamaha's test rider, revealed an intriguing insight: "His strongest point is braking, but he won't brake like in Superbike."
But here's where it gets controversial... Fernandez believes Razgatlioglu's talent will shine through, adapting his style to the MotoGP scene.
"The talent he has on braking is incredible, so he will manage to be fast in braking - in another way."
And this is the part most people miss: understanding the tyres is the real challenge. Fernandez, with his own Superbike test experience, empathizes with Razgatlioglu's focus on Michelin tires.
"For him, it was more about understanding the Michelins than the bike itself. I can totally relate to that."
Razgatlioglu's first test was positive, but the real test lies in adapting to MotoGP's unique demands.
Aleix Espargaro, another rider at the Aragon test, echoed Fernandez's sentiments, praising Razgatlioglu's talent and Yamaha's decision.
"I was surprised by his kindness and talent. He was quite fast, even with difficult track conditions."
So, will Razgatlioglu's unique braking style translate to MotoGP success? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the racing world is buzzing with anticipation.
