Traffic on the M5 was halted due to a crash that occurred during the busy morning rush hour today, Tuesday, January 27. This unfortunate incident transpired on the Northbound side of the M5 in Somerset, causing complete gridlock at approximately 6:45 AM.
The collision took place between junction 22, which leads to Burnham-On-Sea, and junction 21, located near the A370 at Weston-Super-Mare. As news of the crash spread, traffic began to back up significantly, leading to long delays for commuters who were already navigating through peak traffic.
According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, the situation was critical: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to an accident on M5 Northbound from J22 (Burnham-on-Sea) to J21 A370 (Weston-super-Mare). All traffic stopped at around 06:45."
Fortunately, after significant efforts to clear the scene, the blockage was resolved, and traffic was allowed to resume its normal flow by 7:32 AM.
