Class President's tenacity paid off, as he responded to Silent Tactic's challenge with heart. They covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.21, with Class President rewarding bettors handsomely. Litmus Test finished a distant third, with Blackout Time trailing in fourth.
This win catapulted Class President into the spotlight for the May 2 Kentucky Derby (G1) at Churchill Downs. The victory earned him 50 qualifying points, while Silent Tactic's second-place finish earned 25 points, bringing his total to 50 as well. Interestingly, Silent Tactic holds the tiebreaker due to non-restricted stakes earnings, ranking second on the Derby Leaderboard.
The race also showcased the expertise of Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher.
