However, a collarbone fracture sustained during the Tour de Luxembourg, coupled with the chaotic team landscape, left Bouchard contemplating retirement. Arkéa-B&B Hotels folding and the impending merger of Lotto and Intermarché teams added to the uncertainty.

And this is the part most people miss: Bouchard's story takes an unexpected turn. He reveals, "This is a story I'll remember for a long time. I was touched by the team's interest. I quickly saw the opportunity, especially as I was preparing to retire. The discussions convinced me to continue, within a team that aligns with my style: aggressive and fearless."
During his time with TotalEnergies, Bouchard will be guided by Director of Sport, Benoît Genauzeau, and long-term team boss Jean-René Bernaudeau, who, despite rumors, will continue as general manager for a remarkable 27th year.
