The spirit of Party in the Paddock remains unshaken, even as nature unleashes its watery fury!
Despite the downpour, thousands of music enthusiasts have transformed Quercus Park into a vibrant dance floor. With ponchos and umbrellas in hand, these revellers are determined to make the most of the festival's final day.
The rain, which poured down for four hours on Sunday morning, couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the 14,000-strong crowd. They're all geared up for tonight's headlining acts, The Veronicas and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who will undoubtedly ignite the stage.
Festival director Ryan Limb assures us that the show must go on. "We're keeping a close eye on the weather, but we're confident it will clear up," he says. The festival organizers have taken every precaution, distributing free ponchos at information booths and entry gates.
But here's where it gets controversial...
Party in the Paddock, now in its 13th year, has evolved from a humble backyard birthday bash into Tasmania's premier homegrown music event. Co-founder Jesse Higgs reveals that it all started with a simple Facebook message in 2011. "I wanted to create a festival that celebrated local talent," he explains.
This year's attendance has surpassed expectations, with a 1,000-strong increase from last year. What's more, 10% of the crowd has traveled from interstate and overseas, a testament to the festival's growing reputation.
Over 180 acts will perform across the four-day extravaganza, with half of them hailing from Tasmania. Tourism Minister Jane Howlett emphasizes the significance of such events for the state's profile. "Tasmania shines brightest when it hosts live music events like these," she says.
And this is the part most people miss...
The success of Party in the Paddock is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the 180 staff members, nearly 500 volunteers, and approximately 400 crew members who toil behind the scenes. Their efforts, spanning four weeks, have created an unforgettable experience for music lovers.
