On February 28, 2026, a devastating attack occurred at the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran, during the initial strikes by Israel and the United States. The school, which was clearly separated from an adjacent military site for at least a decade, was directly hit by a guided missile, causing the roof to collapse and resulting in the deaths of 165 people, most of them girls aged between 7 and 12. The attack raises fundamental questions about the accuracy of intelligence information and the possibility of deliberate targeting of the school. The investigation reveals that the school had been structurally and administratively affiliated with the IRGC Navy for a long time, and its civilian status was well-established. The attack on the school is part of a pattern of targeting civilian facilities by the US and Israeli militaries, which has been documented across decades of military operations and attacks. The attackers' ability to spare newly established adjacent facilities and their failure to avoid an elementary school operating at full capacity leaves us with two scenarios: either grave negligence or deliberate targeting to inflict maximum societal shock and undermine popular support for Iran's military establishment.
